What was once complex and difficult to grasp at STARTEAM GLOBAL is now transparent, dynamic, and measurably improved. Learn how PAILOT contributed to this transformation.

perfect match
STARTEAM GLOBAL was founded in Germany in 1988 and is a leading manufacturer of printed circuit boards (PCBs), technology, and service solutions. With more than 35 years of expertise in PCB manufacturing, the company operates multiple production sites across the entire value chain in China, Thailand, and Italy.
complex matter
A complex initial situation at STARTEAM GLOBAL: An MES system was implemented in parallel with the rollout of PAILOT, while existing KPIs and control logic had to be adapted to effectively integrate the new optimization approaches.
Production at Starteam Global is characterized by a wide variety of product variants, sophisticated technologies, multi-stage processes, and a commitment to zero-defect production, which makes planning and control particularly challenging.
The rollout of PAILOT took place in parallel with the implementation of an MES system, which meant that several changes were implemented at the same time. In addition, existing KPI logic had to be adjusted.
Planning was carried out on a decentralized basis using paper-based priority lists. As a result, decisions were made based on opaque data, which made coordination time-consuming and prone to errors.
Priority lists on the shop floor and last-minute changes to orders led to unstable processes. As a result, delivery dates were difficult to plan and could only be met with limited reliability.
A clear-cut case
STARTEAM GLOBAL wanted to streamline production and significantly improve on-time delivery—not by adding new machinery, but by making optimal use of existing resources. This required a fundamental shift in planning: moving away from decentralized priority lists and siloed structures toward end-to-end, transparent production planning. The goal was to be able to track the status of orders at any given time and use that information to make better decisions.

Running as it should
With the introduction of PAILOT, the way work is done on the shop floor at STARTEAM GLOBAL has fundamentally changed. Its integration into existing processes has led to noticeable improvements in both the organizational structure and daily tasks and responsibilities. The focus has shifted from familiar, often locally optimized approaches to centrally managed, data-driven planning.
Hard facts
With its high adaptability to the dynamically changing status of production, PAILOT helps to continuously adjust plans accordingly, regardless of the stage or aspect of the process where changes occur, throughout the entire production process. Today, production plans can be adjusted in a matter of minutes, while transparency across all processes has increased significantly. The paperless shop floor reduces manual effort and ensures a consistent data foundation.

From our perspective
During the implementation phase of PAILOT, our collaboration with Starteam Global was structured and efficient. Despite linguistic and cultural differences among the international teams, we were able to maintain close, solution-oriented communication, which allowed us to clarify requirements early on and implement adjustments quickly. This contributed significantly to a smooth implementation and high levels of acceptance in day-to-day operations.
